Medical Assistant
Program Overview
The Medical Assisting Program was established in 1962 and is accredited by
the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
and New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. The medical
assistant program prepares individuals to work in a physician's office or
health care facility performing both medical business administration and
clinical procedures. Students who successfully complete the program are
awarded a certificate in medical assisting and are eligible to receive
national certification by taking the American Association of Medical
Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination, which is
offered three times a year. In addition, we have an articulation agreement
with Berkshire Community College, which will transfer 32 credits from McCann
toward an associate degree in Health Science.
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting
is one of the fastest growing occupations due to technological advances in
medicine, and a growing, aging population. This occupational growth is
expected to continue through 2010. If you are looking for a challenging and
rewarding career, medical assisting may be the choice for you. Please

Testimonials
"McCann's Postsecondary programs have always been highly recommended. I
chose the Medical Assisting field for many personal reasons but also
because the medical field is always growing and progressing in advanced
care and there is always a shortage of qualified individuals to fill these
demanding positions. McCann's Medical Assisting program prepares you to
handle the demands above and beyond expectations." Kelley

"We have had the pleasure of precepting McCann Tech medical assistant
students in our Internal Medicine practice at Dalton Medical for the past
15 years. McCann students come to us prepared with the necessary skills to
jump-start them to comprehensive learning experience. The students have an
excellent foundation of medical assisting knowledge to help them
understand the medical environment. We have consistently hired our medical
assistant students when openings come up in our practice. We find the
McCann Tech medical assistant students educational experience is what we
are looking for to maintain the quality of care we deliver to our
patients. The school is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of
Allied Health Programs." Joanne Warren, Practice Manager
